“AllSee, a gesture-recognition system being developed by UW researchers, is bringing this technology to smartphones and similar devices.
“AllSee uses existing signals put out by other electronic devices to read the users’ hand movements, using 1,000 to 10,000 times less power than similar systems. The technology can even operate on devices without batteries.”

At today’s UW CSE robotics colloquium, Gur Kimchi, VP of Prime Air at Amazon.com, described to a standing-room-only crowd this new delivery system, whose goal is to get packages into customers’ hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles. “From a technology point of view, we’ll be ready to enter commercial operations as soon as the necessary regulations are in place.
