Kira Goldner earns National Science Foundation postdoctoral fellowship
Allen School Ph.D. candidate Kira Goldner has received a Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation to advance her work on algorithmic mechanism design for social good. Goldner, who works with professor Anna Karlin in the Allen School’s Theory of Computation group, will take up a postdoc position hosted by professor Tim Roughgarden at Columbia University following her graduation from the University of Washington this spring.

University of Washington professor Shwetak Patel has been named the recipient of the 2018 ACM Prize in Computing from the Association for Computing Machinery. Allen School Ph.D. student Venkatesh Potluri has earned a 2019 Google Lime Scholarship, which recognizes and supports students with disabilities who demonstrate the qualities of leadership, commitment to academic excellence, and passion for computer science and technology. Potluri, who is blind, is in his first year at the Allen School working on human-computer interaction (HCI) and accessibility research as a member of both the Makeability Lab and Make4All Group.
