Julie Kientz wins TR35 Award!

Julie Kientz, a faculty member in UW Human Centered Design & Engineering and an adjunct faculty member in CSE, has won a TR35 Award from MIT Technology Review, which annually recognizes the top 35 innovators under the age of 35.  Julie was honored for her work in computer software. Her research looks at how technology can be used to support health and education. Matt Reynolds to join UW CSE+EE

Matt Reynolds, currently Nortel Networks Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, will be joining UW this fall with a joint position in Computer Science & Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Matt’s research, which has resulted in 5 best paper awards, focuses on ultra-low power sensing and computation, RFID, wireless power transfer, biomedical applications, and smart materials and surfaces. SpiroSmart at TEDMED

UW CSE’s SpiroSmart will be featured next week at TEDMED: “SpiroSmart is a mobile phone based platform that allows for the analysis of common lung function measures (FEV1, FVC, PEF). CSE’s Lilian de Greef wins 2013 Microsoft Research Graduate Women’s Scholarship

The Microsoft Research Graduate Women’s Scholarship is a one-year scholarship program for outstanding women graduate students, designed to help increase the number of women pursuing a Ph.D.  This program supports women in the second year of their graduate studies.
