Allen School celebrates fundraising and construction milestones for new Bill & Melinda Gates Center

Today, the Allen School and University of Washington announced the conclusion of fundraising for the new Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering and the “topping out” of the building’s structure — two significant milestones in the school’s quest to expand its impact and educate more of Washington’s students to be the innovators and leaders of tomorrow. Allen School’s second building named the Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering

The University of Washington Board of Regents today approved the naming of the Allen School’s second building as the Bill & Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science & Engineering. UW CSE helps launch new professional master’s degree program in data science

UW CSE has partnered with the iSchool and the departments of Applied Mathematics, Biostatistics, Human Centered Design & Engineering, and Statistics – under the auspices of the eScience Institute – on the creation of a master’s degree program in the growing field of data science. Microsoft commits $10 million to a second building for UW CSE

At this evening’s UW CSE graduation ceremony, Microsoft Executive Vice President and General Counsel Brad Smith will announce a commitment from the company of $10 million to kick-start a campaign to build a second Computer Science & Engineering building on the UW campus.
